This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected, used, shared and protected in connection with Oil Empire – Idle Tycoon (“Oil Empire” or the “Game”).

Oil Empire is developed and published by Mikkel Knudsen (“we,” “us” or “our”).

This Privacy Policy applies to the mobile version of Oil Empire distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, as well as communications sent to us concerning the Game.

This Privacy Policy is intended to provide information about our data practices. Where consent is legally required, we will request that consent separately through the Game, your device or an applicable consent-management system.

2. Oil Empire accounts

 

You may play Oil Empire without creating an Oil Empire account. Guest progress may be stored locally on your device.

Oil Empire also offers an optional account system that allows supported Game progress to be associated with an account and synchronized through cloud services.

When you create an Oil Empire account using email and password, we process information necessary to create and operate the account, including:

​

• Your email address.

• A unique account identifier.

• Authentication and account-status information.

• Account creation and sign-in information.

• Information required for password resets and other account-management functions.

Authentication is provided using Google Firebase Authentication.

​

Passwords are processed through Firebase Authentication and are not included in Oil Empire cloud-save files.

​

An Oil Empire account is associated with account-linked cloud-save data. When an account is created, supported progress from the device may be uploaded and associated with that account.

When you sign in to an existing account, the Game may retrieve the cloud save associated with that account and replace the active local gameplay progress on the device.

​

Oil Empire may send service communications relating to your account, such as password-reset, account-security or other account-management emails.

​

Additional sign-in methods may be made available in the future. If a third-party sign-in provider is introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated where necessary to describe the relevant provider and data processing.

3. Personal data we collect

The personal data processed in connection with Oil Empire depends on your device, platform, region, privacy choices and the features or third-party services enabled in the Game.

3.1 Information you provide directly

We may collect information you voluntarily provide when you contact us or otherwise communicate with us concerning Oil Empire, including:

Some device-specific information, such as certain settings, may remain stored locally rather than forming part of the account cloud save.

Deleting the Game, clearing application data or resetting your device may delete locally stored information. Account-linked progress that has been successfully synchronized may remain available through the associated Oil Empire account.

Firebase Authentication processes authentication credentials and related information in order to authenticate users, manage accounts and protect the service against abuse.

7. Service providers and third parties

​

We use third parties to distribute, operate, analyze, support and monetize Oil Empire.

Some providers process personal data on our behalf. Other providers may act as independent data controllers and process information under their own privacy policies.

7.1 App distribution and purchases

​

Apple Inc.

​

Apple distributes the iOS version of the Game and processes App Store purchases, refunds and related platform information.

Google LLC

​

Google distributes the Android version of the Game through Google Play and processes Google Play purchases, refunds and related platform information.

7.2 Advertising providers

​

Google LLC — Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK

​

Google AdMob is used to provide rewarded advertisements within Oil Empire. Google may process device information, advertising identifiers, IP addresses, approximate location, advertisement impressions, advertisement interactions, consent information, and information used for fraud prevention and advertising measurement.

7.3 Analytics providers

 

Google LLC — Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics for Firebase

Oil Empire uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the Game is used and to improve gameplay, performance and features.

​

Depending on consent choices and the configuration of the service, Firebase Analytics may process information such as app-instance identifiers, device and app information, approximate location derived from IP address, app lifecycle and session information, in-app purchase events, and interactions with features of the Game.

​

Where consent is required by applicable law, optional analytics processing is subject to the user's consent choices.

​

7.4 Crash-reporting providers

​

Oil Empire does not currently use a separate crash-reporting provider.

​

7.5 Purchase-validation providers

​

Unity Technologies — Unity In-App Purchasing, Apple Inc. — Apple App Store, and Google LLC — Google Play.

7.6 Email and customer-support providers

 

Account-related emails and support communications may be processed using:

Microsoft Corporation — Microsoft 365 / Microsoft Graph

​

Microsoft services are used to send automated Oil Empire account-related emails and provide the email infrastructure used for Oil Empire support communications.

Depending on the communication, Microsoft may process information such as:

• Email addresses.

• Message contents.

• Message subject lines.

• Timestamps.

• Delivery information.

• Attachments.

• Technical and security information required to deliver and protect email communications.

Oil Empire uses noreply@oilempire.info for automated account communications and support@oilempire.info for support communications and replies.

The Oil Empire website and this Privacy Policy are hosted by:

Wix may process IP addresses, browser and device information, website access logs, cookie information and other technical data required to deliver, secure, maintain and analyze the website.

The provider list will be updated when services are added, removed or replaced.

7.8 Account, authentication and cloud-service providers

 

Google LLC — Firebase and Google Cloud

Oil Empire uses Firebase and Google Cloud services to provide account authentication, account-linked cloud saving and related backend functionality.

Depending on the service used, Google may process information such as:

• Account identifiers.

Firebase Authentication is used to create, authenticate and manage Oil Empire accounts.

​

Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage may be used to store account-linked cloud-save information and related metadata.

​

Cloud Functions are used to perform authenticated backend operations, including cloud-save and account-related functions.

​

Google generally processes this information on our behalf in connection with the Firebase and Google Cloud services used by Oil Empire.

8. When personal data may be shared

Personal data may be shared with:

We do not sell personal data in exchange for money.

​

• Analytics and crash information is retained according to the configured retention period of the relevant provider.

• Consent records may be retained for as long as necessary to demonstrate the consent choices that applied.

• Local Game progress remains on your device until it is deleted, overwritten or removed through deletion of the Game or its application data.

• Account information is generally retained while the associated Oil Empire account remains active and for any additional period required for legitimate security, legal or compliance purposes.

• Account-linked cloud-save data is generally retained while needed to provide cloud-saving functionality and is subject to deletion in accordance with applicable law and valid deletion requests.

• Authentication information is retained according to the retention practices of the applicable authentication provider and any legal or security requirements.

Data may be retained for longer where necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, comply with a legal obligation or investigate suspected fraud.

​

Aggregated or anonymized information that can no longer reasonably identify an individual may be retained for statistical and development purposes.

12. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal data against:

17. Children’s privacy

Oil Empire is not specifically directed at children under 13, and Oil Empire accounts are not intended to be created by users who are not permitted to use the Game under our Terms of Service.​

Where processing is based on consent and the user is below the applicable age at which they can legally provide that consent, authorization from a parent or legal guardian may be required.

​

In Denmark, the relevant age for a child to consent independently to consent-based personal-data processing in connection with an information-society service is generally 15.

​

The applicable age may differ in other countries.

​

If we learn that personal data has been collected from a child in circumstances requiring parental authorization and valid authorization was not obtained, we will take reasonable steps to delete or restrict that information.

We do not use personal data to make automated decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects concerning players.
